5 Must-Dos When Vacationing In Warmer Climates
My travels this summer have had one thing in common – HEAT – and many travelers are not prepared.
One instance that will stay with me for a long time was a young woman not dressed for hiking, struggling to make her way back up a trail at the Grand Canyon. She was delirious and in need of water when a my friend came upon her on the trail. My friend was able to give her aid with water. The woman was not prepared for the heat, she had no water with her and was not aware of the intensity of the trail. She had not researched her destination, and wasn’t prepared with water or a hat.
Want to make your vacation more enjoyable? Follow these simple “Must Dos”.
5 Must Dos When Vacationing in Warmer Climates
Research your destination. Will the weather be extreme during your visit? Is there an extreme difference in temperature from day to night? Check the weather forecast a few days before your trip is to begin.
Hydration. An easy way to ensure you stay hydrated is to pack a reusable water bottle. Many locations now have water bottle refill stations so you can take advantage of “free” water and help reduce waste too.
Cooling towels. There are so many on the market in all shapes, sizes and colors. Easy to pack, carry and use, these can be life savers for a quick cool down.
Cool mist fans. There are several mini styles available online. I love this! They are great way to cool off with mist and a cool breeze.
Wide brimmed hat. From the big straw variety to a simple fishing style, a hat will be your best friend in warm climates to keep the sun from your face and provide much needed shade.
From theme park vacations, hiking a trail or cruising on the high seas, traveling in the heat doesn’t need to be miserable. Staying hydrated and taking along a few simple items can make your journey much more enjoyable. Is there a warm weather destination on your bucket list?
